Avoid Total Antispyware

Given the recent explosion of rogue antispyware products, users must be increasingly skeptical of any software claiming the capability of eradicating spyware from a computer. Programs like Total antispyware are a dime a dozen, and they are all out to steal your money and anything else they can dupe unsuspecting users out of. As such, it is of utmost importance for all regular computer users to have powerful, legitimate antispyware tools that are designed to do battle against these computing insurgents.

Rogue antispyware is characterized by claiming the ability to clean a user’s computer of any residing malware, when in actuality all of these programs are malware themselves. Total antispyware most commonly finds access to a user’s computer via a Trojan that has already opened a security hole, but infection can also occur by visiting infected websites or by a user unknowingly downloading the parasite thinking that it is something else.

Once on your computer, Total antispyware will do its best to convince you that your computer is infected with a multitude of malicious programs, and that you are facing impending doom if you do not take action by downloading the full version of the software. It will start doing a bunch of scans which generate a list of fake results, including listing some of your computer’s critical files as “threats.” Then it will harass you with pop ups regarding your need to take action until you do something about it. It will also stay running in the background hogging your computer’s processing speed and Internet bandwidth, as well as connect to the Internet without your permission so that it can redirect your browser to pages of its own design and download more malware without your knowledge.

Obviously, you do need to do something about this problem, but the solution is definitely not to buy the “full version” of Total antispyware. Doing so will only leave you out money, with a computer still infected, and with your credit card information in the hands of thieves. If you have already fallen victim to the scam, it would be wise to monitor your credit report closely for signs of fraud.

Instead of buying the full version, you need to remove Total antispyware once and for all. You can do this manually by killing its processes, deleting its associated files and registry entries, and unregistering its DLLs. Use caution should you choose this method, as the accidental deletion of the wrong file could cause irreparable damage to your computer.
