Be Careful of BitAccelerator

Some malicious programs have names that appear innocent or even have the same name as a benign program. BitAccelerator is one of those types of malicious programs and if you have been infected, you need to remove it as soon as you can.

BitAccelerator is adware that has been known to install other rogue programs on occasion. When BitAccelerator isn’t installing more spyware on your computer, it is keeping a watchful eye on everything that you do on your computer. When BitAccelerator has gathered enough information, it sends that information to another server and you get pop up ads. It is frustrating, I know.

But the difficulty with being infected with BitAccelerator is that it is sometimes hard to tell that you are actually infected. One website that keeps a record of spyware reports said that 77% of all reports of BitAccelerator were considered a threat. This means that 23% of the reports were not actually adware, though they were thought to be because of the name. The confusion is due to the fact that there is actually a legitimate product with the same name as BitAccelerator.

If you believe that you have been infected with BitAccelerator, don’t just start deleting files off of your computer just because you think that you are infected. Instead, make sure that you are infected by acquiring a quality anti-spyware program that can test those files for you. While it is always possible to manually remove infectious programming, it is always safer to use an anti-spyware program so that you don’t damage your computer.
