Boln-WinTitle is a bundle of two different spyware programs; boln.dll and wintitle.dll. This combination of files is a Cool Web Search variant. This bundle was first discovered on April 12 of 2005.
Cool Web Search is a notorious spyware family. They are well documented for abuse of adware and spyware.
Boln-WinTitle’s primary files are both Browser Hijacker programs. It was presumably created to be able to infect computers that were protected against one or the other of boln.dll or wintitle.dll infections. It disguises itself as a search enhancing browser toolbar.
As a Browser Hijacker, Boln-WinTitle is able to reset your home page and redirect your browsing to show their affiliate marketing pages. It is also able to monitor your browsing activity. It collects this data and uploads it to a remote server. This remote server then sends the program advertisements to display based on the user’s browsing history.
If you are infected with Boln-WinTitle, you should remove it as soon as you can. It has no useful purpose and can cause your computer to slow down and have program errors. The advertisements and browser redirection are also annoying. Even worse, it collects data from your computer and sends it somewhere you don’t know for dubious reasons.
