Ext Security Center Removal Instructions

Title: Ext Security Center

Also Known as: ExtSecurityCenter

Severity scale: 72 (72 / 100)

If your computer has been infected with Ext Security Center, then you should have it removed as soon as you can. Ext Security Center is a rogue security application and a scam. It attempts to swindle people out of their hard-earned money through very shady means and gives nothing but trouble in return.

Ext Security Center infects a computer through a Trojan horse that has already infiltrated the system. Then it will use several scare tactics, including a false scan with false results, in order to fool the infected user into purchasing the full version of its program. However, the full version of the program will not remove any threats, nor will it prevent malicious software from invading.

Ext Security Center will also cause your computer and Internet connection to slow, as well as give pop-up ads and homepage changes.

In order to remove Ext Security Center manually, you should kill the following processes:

amg.exe
ExtSecurityCenter.exe

The following registry entries should be deleted:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunExtSecurityCenter?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ExtSecurityCenter
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ExtSecurityCenter
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ExtSecurityCenter\WebMonNotifier
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ExtSecurityCenter
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ExtSecurityCenter
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ExtSecurityCenter\WebMonNotifier

The following files should also be deleted:

%Program Files%\AntiMalwareGuard\BL.dat
%Program Files%\AntiMalwareGuard\ExtSecurityCenter.xml
%Program Files%\AntiMalwareGuard\WL.dat

While manual removal of Ext Security Center is possible, it is not advisable. Removing malware manually is tedious, inefficient, and can potentially be very dangerous. Once you have removed Ext Security Center, you will still have to deal with the Trojan and any other malware it may have downloaded. Instead, you should use an antispyware program that is reliable and trustworthy.
