PCMightyMax Is No Mighty Mouse

First off, let’s start off by saying anything with the word ‘mighty’ is not a good thing. Programs that are ‘mighty’ can be followed up with the words ‘troublesome’, ‘annoying’, and ‘aggressive’. This definitely applies to PCMightyMax, a new rogue anti-spyware program that is making it’s way through the Internet. Just like every other rogue anti-spyware program, this one wants nothing more than your hard earned money.

PCMightyMax works just like all the other nasty rogue anti-spyware programs. It sends up a fake message stating your computer is infected to the roof with viruses, spyware, and malware programs. How does it find its way onto your computer? Trojan viruses like Zlob, spam mail, surfing websites that are infected and many other ways that leaves your computer open to infection.

Rogue anti-spyware programs like PCMightyMax can bog down your computer, change your registries, adjust you browser settings to websites you don’t want, and basically just make a mess of your system. It can send up pop-ups and pop-unders that keep popping up whenever you click on the ‘X’ to close them and this launches the program into scan mode, giving you the final report of all the files on your computer system that are bad.

Here’s a clue, folks, about those files and programs rogue anti-spyware programs like PCMightyMax is telling you about: many of those files are used by Windows in a legitimate manner and if you remove them, you could screw up your entire operating system. Plus PCMightyMax claims to work with Windows to protect your computer from spyware and malware. Don’t you just love the lies?

If you get a message on your computer stating that you are infected, verify what program is reporting the error. If it is PCMightyMax and you know you did not download it onto your computer, then you have a serious problem. This program is allowing other malware programs to slip onto your computer though back door means that should be ‘closed’ for a lack of a better term. It could also be reporting your surfing and computer use habits to a third party company that will use the information to send you spam mail, update the rogue program without your permission and allow other programs to be downloaded onto your system.

The first thing you need to do if you are infected with PCMightyMax is run a legitimate anti-spyware program like SpyZooka on your system. SpyZooka will scan your computer and give you the correct list of infections, not some exaggerated report of things that really aren’t there. You can then use the program to isolate the PCMightyMax files are remove them in one full swoop. If you are a computer whiz, you can secure the list of files yourself and remove them by hand. This is not advisable, however, if you are not comfortable working with your registry files. If you delete the wrong one, you have additional issues you don’t need.

Once your sure PCMightyMax is off your computer – and all of the other spyware and malware that SpyZooka found – run your anti-virus program to find the viruses that PCMightyMax may have used to get onto your computer in the first place. Always make sure your anti-virus program is up to date to prevent this from happening again once you get your system clean.
